Caravan Friendly Destinations in the Peak District

"Spectacular dales - Caves - Stately homes - National footpaths - Mountain bike trails - Limestone"

Threaded with marked trails for walkers and mountain bikers the Peak district is the first National Park in England. Buxton a spa town boasting an opera house and a fine architectural crescent lies in the middle of the park. There is the market town of Bakewell and Ashbourne and you cannot miss the cable car at Matlock. Two of England’s grandest stately homes Chatsworth and Haddon Hall offer a diversion to the thrills of Alton Towers and the American Adventure Park.

The history and heritage of the area lie in the caverns, mines and museums of industrial archaeology; the caverns at Castleton and tram museum at Crich.

It is the transition from the limestone dales and gentle rolling landscape of the White Peak to the rugged rocky outcrop and open moorland of the Dark Peak that creates the habitat for rare birds, flower-filled valleys, carpets of heather and fresh sparkling water. Visit www.visitpeakdistrict.co.uk for more information. The Peak District has activity pursuits, houses & gardens, family fun, industrial history and many customs and traditions to suit all.
